1. Gather all your dirty clothes and place them into your laundry basket.
  2. Sort the clothes by the correct fabric types: lights, darks, delicates, etc.
  3. Bring your clothes, detergent, fabric softener, and bleach to the laundry room.
  4. Put your detergent into the washing machine first. Follow the instructions on the box to determine how much to use. Generally, ½ a cap full for a small load and a full cap for a large load.
  5. Follow the directions on the label of the clothes to determine if bleach and/or fabric softener is okay for the fabric.
  6. Pour your fabric softener and/or bleach into the correct slot, if directed to on the clothing label.
  7. Put your clothes into the washing machine.
  8. Keep an eye on the size of the load. Do not fill the washer over the top line. Make sure the clothes can freely move. Do not pack them tightly.
  9. Set the water temperature, load size, and type of fabric your washing. Follow the directions on the clothing label for the best settings to pick. If your unsure, the best water temperature to pick is warm water. Next, press the start button. The washer will now start. It generally takes about 35 minutes for washing to complete in a standard economy washer.
  10. Next, check the lint trap and make sure it is free of lint. If any is present, clean out the trap. You can safely throw the lint away if it is present in the dryer.
  11. Take your clothes from the washing machine and place them into the dryer.
  12. Place a dryer sheet into the dryer.
  13. Select the correct to temperature for the dryer. Follow the instructions on the clothing label for the best settings to use. Use the “normal” temperature setting, if you’re unsure. Then, press the start button. The dryer will now start. It generally takes about 45 minutes, for the clothes to become completely dry in a standard economy dryer.
  14. When the dryer stops, check to see if the clothes are dry. If not, repeat step 9.
  15. When the clothes are completely dry, take them out of the dryer and place them into your basket.
  16. Finally, fold and put away your clothes. For best results, fold your clothes promptly to avoid wrinkles. Repeat the entire process for each load of laundry you plan to do.
